Legends reunite for classic Twenty20 clash

Live coverage details for the Festival of Cricket match between a true Legends XI and the Perth Scorchers

It's quickly become one of Western Australia's most anticipated annual cricket events and another huge crowd is expected on Friday afternoon for this year's Festival of Cricket at the Aquinas College Ground in Perth, as Adam Gilchrist's Legends XI take on KFC Big Bash League champions Perth Scorchers.

Once again, 'Gilly's Legends' will feature a glittering array of stars from the game's recent past, including Scorchers coach Justin Langer and his former Australia teammates Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Andrew Symonds and Glenn McGrath.

The foreign contingent is headlined by West Indian genius Brian Lara, South African maverick Herschelle Gibbs and former England allrounder Andrew Flintoff.

LAST YEAR: Watch Brian Lara turn back the clock by reaching a half-century for a Legends XI against Perth Scorchers on the second-last ball of the innings

Lara starred in last year’s edition, scoring an unbeaten 51 in front of a bumper crowd at the Aquinas ground in a match the Scorchers ultimately won by 50 runs.

The showdown also represents a good opportunity for the Scorchers players to get their eyes in before their BBL|05 season opener on December 21 against the Strikers, while they will no doubt relish the prospect of taking on their coach, Langer, who is excited about the contest.

"This is an unbelievable opportunity for our players, especially our younger players, to come up against some of the most respected names in cricket," Langer said when the second edition of the T20 match was announced in August.

"The experience they will gain from playing against these players and having the opportunity to speak with them on the day can only help them with their cricket."
