The most graceful of India’s ‘Fab Four’ batsmen at the time, VVS Laxman always had a mean streak when facing Australia.
His Test average is close to 10 runs better than his career mark of 46 whenever he faces a Baggy Green.
The most memorable of those innings was his 281 in Kolkata in 2001, which turned the match and the series, and ended Australia’s record-breaking winning streak. He also breezed to an unbeaten 200 in Delhi in 2008.
Laxman finished his international career with 17 Test centuries, 56 Test fifties, as well as, six hundreds and 10 fifties in ODIs.
