Player Story

Without the presence of Daniel Vettori, Jeetan Patel would be an established offspinner at Test level. However, Vettori’s brilliance and the regular need for a large contingent of fast bowlers has restricted Patel to 12 Tests between his debut in 2006 and the start of the Zimbabwe tour in October. A thoughtful bowler who employs spin and drift, Patel collected his first five-wicket haul against West Indies in 2008 and usually makes some sort of impact when called on. Patel had a stint at English county Warwickshire in the off-season and captured 10 wickets in a Championship match against Sussex.
