On the hallowed turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, 150 years of cricketing rivalry will come to a head as Australia and England face off in the 150th Anniversary Test Match.
Events like this happen once in a generation. Just as the Centenary Test in 1977 became part of cricket folklore, this historic occasion will see legends of the game in the stands and on the field – and you’ll have the chance to be there.
From 11–15 March 2027, the 150th Anniversary Test will unfold under lights for the first time, honouring the past, celebrating the present and igniting the future of cricket.
With world-class entertainment and an atmosphere alive with energy, it promises to be an unforgettable event on the world’s grandest cricket stage.
An Anniversary Test Match hasn’t taken place since the Centenary Test in 1977. That match felt scripted by fate, with its unbelievable mirroring of the original Test Match in 1877. The same teams, at the same ground finished with the exact same result after five days – an Aussie victory by 45 runs.
It was called “the biggest event in Melbourne since the 1956 Olympic Games”. The MCG overflowed, the Queen watched from the grandstand and millions tuned in around the world.
Now, nearly 50 years later, the stage is set for an equally historic event.
