Perry, Blackwell hammer India

Allrounder stars with bat and ball while Blackwell posts third ODI ton in thumping win

The match in a tweet: Stars win big in the nation's capital! India all out for 175 as Blackwell and Perry dominate in a huge 101-run victory at Manuka Oval

The heroes: It was the Ellyse Perry and Alex Blackwell story at Manuka. Their massive 180-run partnership powered the Southern Stars to 6-276, with Blackwell's superb 114 from 112 balls her third ODI century and her second against India in Canberra, while Perry's 90 from 118 was her equal-highest one-day score. First Perry then Blackwell reached half-centuries in quick succession, before the latter stepped on the accelerator, pulling out a range of entertaining shots on her way to her third ODI ton.

While Perry's innings was more measured, she played some beautiful shots before falling 10 runs short of a maiden international ton. She then followed up with a brilliant performance with the ball and in the field, running out opener Thirush Kamini before snaring the wickets of Punam Raut, Harmanpreet Kaur, Shikha Pandey and Jhulan Goswami, to finish with 4-45 from her 10. Blackwell put down a diving chance off Harmanpreet Kaur, but made up for it with a great running grab to dismiss Goswami.

The stat: Ellyse Perry's 90 from 118 balls was her eighth fifty from her past nine ODI innings. Indeed, nine of her 10 ODI half-centuries have come in her last 11 innings. Her other two scores? 48 and a first-ball duck. What a run it's been: 65*, 0, 90*, 53, 72, 64*, 74*, 78, 48, 67, 90.

The key moment: While India's fielding was near faultless in the T20 series, but it was a different story in Canberra. Blackwell was put down on 72 and she went on to add another 42 runs, anchoring the Australian innings.

The consolation efforts: Medium pacer Shikha Pandey claimed three huge wickets and was very hard to put away in her 10 overs. She finished with 3-32, dismissing Australian captain Meg Lanning, Perry and Grace Harris, all at a very tidy economy rate of 3.20. With the bat, Harmanpreet Kaur continued her good form for India, striking a nice 42, but the tourists otherwise struggled to rotate the strike and were pegged down by the Southern Stars.

The support cast: Lanning joined Nicole Bolton at the top of the order, her first appearance as opener in an ODI since the 2013-14 Ashes series. She wasted no time getting into gear, pounding two boundaries and a six off the second over, helping Australia race to 24 in the third over before Bolton was caught out for one. Her skipper fell short of yet another ODI fifty when Shikha Pandey made a massive breakthrough to have her caught behind on 43. With the ball, Kristen Beams was excellent in her return from a dislocated thumb, allowing just 35 runs from her 10 overs.

The debutante: Big-hitting Grace Harris was presented with her first ODI cap but it was a tough ask for the allrounder when she was elevated up the order and called upon for fast runs late in the innings, and she departed for two. She bowled three overs, taking 1-13, grabbing the wicket of Sneh Rana.

The toss: With Meg Lanning's luck of late, this is worth mentioning. After three straight losses in the T20s, the Southern Stars skipper would have let out a sigh of relief when coin fell in her favour in Canberra. She chose to bat, for what it's worth.
