Dottin back in red as Renegades boost all-round power

Deandra Dottin will once again link up with West Indies teammate Hayley Matthews at the Melbourne Renegades in Weber WBBL|12, as the club mulls replacements for departed import Alice Capsey.

Veteran allrounder Dottin has penned a new one-year deal with the Renegades, for what will be her third season with the club.

A member of the title-winning team from 2024, she will again bolster the club's pace bowling stocks while her explosive – and versatile – skills with the bat could see her play in the top-order or be deployed in more of a finishing role.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the Renegades and especially playing with Hayley Matthews once again," Dottin said.

"We’ve shared some special memories on the field together, and being back in Melbourne, where we won a title together, brings back plenty of great memories.

"I’m excited for the season ahead."

Matthews' return to the Renegades was confirmed earlier this month after she was forced to withdraw from WBBL|11 due to shoulder surgery.

The club however will be without England allrounder Capsey in WBBL|12, after the 22-year-old was signed by the Sydney Sixers.

Despite her departure, the Renegades are building a solid list of allrounders that also includes Australia stars Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham.

The combination of Molineux's left-arm spin, Wareham's leggies and Matthews' off-spin will see them field one of the most imposing spin attacks in the competition.

Key local talent including batter Courtney Webb, wicketkeeper Nicole Faltum, allrounder Tess Flintof and rising quick Milly Illingworth are also contracted for WBBL|12.
