Jacob Bethell to return from injury for Australia tour with Jofra Archer to add firepower to Harry Brook's white-ball charges
Bethell, Archer to test Australia's white-ball credentials
England will bring a full-strength ODI squad and a more experimental T20I side featuring a crop of rising stars to Australia next month.
Both Australia and England will be using the ODIs as preparation for next year's World Cup in what shapes as a blockbuster three-match 50-over series.
Jacob Bethell, who made a memorable Test ton in Sydney in January, returns to Harry Brook's team for the first time since suffering a knee injury in July, and there are also places for Jofra Archer, Joe Root, Josh Tongue and Adil Rashid.
England ODI squad: Harry Brook (c), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Josh Tongue
England T20I squad: Harry Brook (c), Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, James Coles, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Aneurin Donald, Eddie Jack, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Thomas Rew, Phil Salt, Luke Wood.
England will arrive having played a tri-series with Sri Lanka in Pakistan from October 18-31 while some key Australia players will have just returned from their Test series in South Africa.
England are headed to South Africa for a Test series of their own in December, which has prompted the ECB to rest all of Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker and Tongue from the shortest format on their Aussie tour.
England will also play five T20 internationals on their trip Down Under and have named a more experimental squad for that leg featuring 18-year-old Thomas Rew and uncapped seamer Eddie Jack, 21.
Somerset wicketkeeper-batter Rew, who has leapfrogged older brother James in the pecking order, would become the third 18-year-old to play men's international cricket for England if he features in any of the first three games of the five-match contest in Australia.
"Thomas Rew is an amazing young talent," national selector Marcus North, the former Australia batter, told the Test Match Special podcast. "He has a great maturity around him for an 18-year-old."
Rew is in the squad with Jos Buttler sidelined after surgery on his hamstring. Aneurin Donald, who played for England at home in the winter when Buttler was injured, has held his spot in the squad while
James Coles, the 22-year-old Sussex batter, and Henry Crocombe, a 25-year-old fast bowler from the same county but who is switching to Surrey next season, are both in line for their international debuts
