Peter Siddle's ODI comeback is complete after the veteran seamer was named in Australia's XI for the first Gillette ODI Series match against India at the SCG.
Captain Aaron Finch confirmed his side today, with Siddle to join Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Lyon as the four specialist bowlers in the XI.
Finch will partner gloveman Alex Carey at the top of the order, with Usman Khawaja named to come in at No.3.
Shaun Marsh follows Khawaja, with Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell rounding out the top seven.
Finch explained the decision to open with Carey was made to give the left-hander a shot at the top where he scored a rapid century for the Adelaide Strikers in the KFC BBL last season.
"It's just an opportunity to see Alex play in a position he's done quite bit in Big Bash and one-day cricket," Finch said when asked about Carey's promotion from No.7 to opener.
"It's a position he's performed really well with in the last couple of years.
"He's been shuffled around the order a bit in the last little while trying to search for that process and right balance of the side and he'll get a good opportunity up there."
Tomorrow's match will be Siddle's first one-day international in eight years having last played in the 50-over format for his country in November 2010 against Sri Lanka in Sydney.
"It's something I'd probably forgotten about really," Siddle said yesterday when asked about his surprise recall.
"I never thought I'd get the opportunity to play one-day cricket for Australia again.
"So yeah I feel like a young kid getting this first opportunity, so it's pretty nice to get that phone call and be around the squad and have the potential to play an ODI after a long time away."
Finch also touched on the decision to bat Handscomb above experienced allrounder Maxwell.
"'Maxi' has floated throughout the order throughout his career," Finch said.
"When we saw him at his absolute best was during the 2015 World Cup when he was used as a floater when we had that Power Play with three fielders out, so there's still a lot of scope for him to float up and down the order as the game situation changes.
"The idea to have Pete (Handscomb) at No. 5 is to have a really good player of spin and a guy who can potentially bat through the innings, that type of solid player in the middle and let the guys play around him."
