Fleming joins Ponting at Seven Network

Seven Network lock up another commentator ahead of maiden season of broadcasting Test and BBL cricket

Former Australia fast bowler Damien Fleming will reunite with Ricky Ponting as part of the Seven Network's cricket coverage this summer.

Fleming and Ponting had worked together on the Ten Network's successful coverage of the KFC Big Bash League in recent years and the pair will team up again at Seven this summer.

"It will be exciting to continue my relationship with Ricky Ponting in the commentary box and I'm sure all Aussie cricket fans will enjoy the innovative new coverage Seven will be bringing to Big Bash and Test Match cricket," Fleming said in a statement.

Ponting signs on with Channel 7

Seven will broadcast both men's and women's internationals and BBL matches for the next six years after signing a historic agreement with Cricket Australia earlier this year, while Fox Sports also signed on as a broadcaster.

Ponting and Fleming are the only major commentary signings announced by Seven so far, while Fox have already secured Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh - two other members of Ten's BBL team - along with Shane Warne, Mike Hussey, Michael Vaughan, Mel Jones and Isa Guha.

Allan Border and Brendon Julian have long been associated with Fox's cricket coverage.

Seven's new head of cricket Dave Barham, who was the brains behind Ten's BBL coverage, said he was thrilled to again work with Fleming.

"(Fleming) is a highly entertaining commentator with theories and expressions that resonate with fans, and cricket and bowling knowledge that’s second to none," Barham said.

Fleming, a World Cup winner alongside Ponting in 1999, took more than 200 wickets for Australia in an international career that spanned seven years.
