Ambidextrous spinner named by Sri Lanka

Spinner that bowls with both his left and right arm in line for full international debut against England

Sri Lanka have included a 20-year-old ambidextrous bowler in their 15-member squad for the one-off Twenty20 match against England.

Kamindu Mendis, who has previously captained Sri Lanka's under-19 side, was brought into the squad led by Thisara Perera for Saturday's match at Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo under lights.

Former skipper Angelo Mathews remains on the outer, while veteran paceman Lasith Malinga returns to the Twenty20 arena following an impressive display during the one-day series.

But it's the inclusion of Kamindu that highlights the Sri Lanka squad, with the youngster on track for his for his full international debut after a string of impressive performances for his country.

Kamindu was in Australia last year with Sri Lanka's under 19 team and earlier this month played for a Sri Lanka Board XI in a tour match against England.

Sri Lanka's Mendis swaps arms mid-over

Kamindu got through eight overs in that 50-over match, bowling right-arm off-spinners to the left-handed Eoin Morgan and left-arm spin to right-handed Joe Root.

Kamindu also scored 61 from just 72 balls in that contest and impressed the England team immensely with his allround ability.

"I've never seen someone do that live but it's great and fantastic for the game," England all-rounder Moeen Ali said.

"It's amazing he was so accurate with both arms and it will be the way cricket is going to go.

"You hear rumours about these guys being around but for him to bowl to that standard and be that good is fantastic.

"I've tried bowling left-arm but I was so bad! You just don't have that same feel."
