An attacking left-handed opening batsman, Rob Quiney made his debut for Victoria in 2005 against an ICC World XI that featured the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Shaun Pollock, Muttiah Muralitharan and Daniel Vettori.
He quickly established himself as a dangerous player for the Vics in limited overs cricket, eventually earning an Indian Premier League contract with Rajasthan and a call-up to Australia’s Twenty20 squad.
But it was in Test cricket that Quiney would first play for Australia, but he scored just nine runs in two matches against South Africa in 2012 after impressing against them in a tour match for Australia A.
His Test debut came on the back of several impressive seasons for the Vics, which saw him named Australia’s Domestic Player of the Year in 2011 and score twin centuries against South Australia in 2012.
