Hailing from Cowra in country New South Wales, Henry Hunt quickly proved himself to be a prolific run-scorer, and represented Australian at Under 19 level in 2015-16.

Unable to break into the NSW squad, he joined South Australia as a rookie for the 2019-20 summer after a standout Futures League campaign.

His Marsh Sheffield Shield debut came that October against Victoria, and by his fourth match he already had a maiden century to his name.

Hunt had a stellar 2021-22 Shield season, where he scored 674 runs with three hundreds. It earned him the coveted Neil Dansie Medal (SA’s best male player), the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year (an award he shared with Victoria’s Travis Dean) and a call up to Australia A’s tour of Sri Lanka in the following winter.

As a sign of how highly he is rated, Hunt has also been given the opportunity to captain the Redbacks in the absence of their regular leaders.

Hunt’s 2023-24 summer was cut short after a horror injury in the field left him needing reconstructive surgery on his nose and jaw.
