A wicketkeeper-batter, Josie Dooley comes from a strong cricketing family with her brother Patty also a professional cricketer.

Originally from Queensland, Dooley made her WNCL debut for the Fire in 2018 and she was selected in a Governor-General’s XI’s numerous times, while also being involved in Australia A tours.

Ahead of the 2020-21 season, Dooley decided to move to South Australia and join the Scorpions, a move that instantly paid off when she hit her maiden WNCL century on March 2021 against Tasmania.

Her WBBL career started with Brisbane Heat, before Dooley joined the  Renegades ahead of WBBL|05.

In the seasons following, she established herself as one of Australia’s best young keepers with the versatility to bat in the top or middle order.

Dooley's world was turned upside down in April 2024 when she suffered a life-threatening medical episode while on a surfing holiday in Hawaii. 

After a lengthy period in intensive care and rehabilitation, Dooley was finally discharged and has continued her long road to recovery.

While not a playing member of the Renegades' championship team in WBBL|10, she was frequently with the squad throughout the season and was one of their driving motivations for the breakthrough title.
