Play the Ashes your way in Cricket 19

When the Ashes kick off at Edgbaston on Thursday, it undoubtedly won’t take long for a quirky scenario to present itself.

Whether it be an epic batting collapse, a thrilling century or a rain-affected finish, the beauty of Test cricket is often its unpredictability.

Enter Cricket 19 – the official game of the Ashes, where fans can replicate any and every possible scenario on their PC or console.

“Cricket is all about those little moments which turn matches,” Big Ant Studios CEO Ross Symons said.

“In Cricket 19, you can do that. You can create those moments and you can turn matches in your favour and take home glory.”

The likeness of the officially licensed Australian and English players allows for realistic gameplay, with American publication IGN declaring the games is “closest to the real thing a cricket game has even been”.

Used in conjunction with cricket.com.au’s new Ashes Selector, fans will be able to select their preferred Ashes XI and create almost any scenario imaginable in the game.

These will no doubt begin to mirror what’s presently happening in the UK, with an active online community expected to upload scenarios for others to download on a daily basis.

And for the bleary-eyed games who stay up watching and playing their way through the Ashes, the similarities between computer-generated graphics and live picture will be uncanny.

“We’ve taken player likeness to a whole new level in this game,” Symons said.

“We’ve gone to England, we’ve photographed the players, we’ve photographed the stadiums, and we’ve put a huge amount of detail into the Ashes contest.”

Cricket 19 is available for purchase on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
