The fatal accident happened just before 3pm on Friday.
The 40-year-old was taken from the scene to Joondalup Health Campus but died from his injuries.
“The North family is saddened to confirm that our beloved son and brother, Lucas North, 40, passed away following the accident that occurred yesterday, “ the North family said in a statement issued by the WACA on their behalf.
“We wish to thank family, friends and the public for the enormous support that has been shown to us in this difficult time.
“We, Peter, Sue, Marcus and the extended North family, again thank all for their concern and request that our privacy be respected to allow us to properly mourn.”
A Cricket Australia spokesperson said, "Cricket Australia extends its deepest sympathies to Marcus North on the passing of his brother Lucas. Our hearts go to him and the entire North family at this incredibly sad time."
The Alcohol. Think Again Western Warriors are currently playing a Bupa Sheffield Shield match against the XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls at the WACA.
North, who has played 21 Test matches, two one-day internationals and one Twenty20 international for Australia, was dismissed for four runs in the first innings and will play no further part in the current match, taking indefinite leave.
The players will wear black armbands and the flags on top of the scoreboard will be lowered in a sign of respect to him and his family.
North will be replaced in the match by Luke Towers.
