Lynn, Boyce go top of BBL Rankings

The red-hot form of Chris Lynn has been recognised in the latest update of the Official BBL Player Rankings, with the Brisbane Heat captain surging into the No.1 position.

Lynn joins Hobart Hurricanes leg-spinner Cameron Boyce – the equal highest-wicket-taker in BBL|05 – and Sydney Thunder superstar Andre Russell in the top places across the batting, bowling and allrounder categories.

The 25-year-old right-hander has been in devastating form for the Heat, smashing 101 against the Hurricanes on December 29 and following it up with 75 from 32 balls to take his side to a maiden win of their BBL|05 campaign against the Thunder.

The century, blitzed from 49 balls, was the highest-rated individual batting performance of the season to date, while his 75 was fifth in the same list.

"The way he's playing he's going to knock on the door and hopefully it's the Australian T20 team that's the first way in for him," Heat coach Daniel Vettori said.

"I've played with Chris for a number of years now and seen his game develop.

"The thing that he's always had is a natural talent but we're seeing a real game-plan and a lot of thought going into how he takes on a game (and) a bowler.

"You've got a guy who is exceptionally talented and he's starting to really think about his game. It's an awesome package at the moment."

Lynn climbs one place into first and is followed by George Bailey, Mike Hussey, Travis Head and Michael Lumb in places two through five.

Boyce meanwhile, took 3-34 in the Hurricanes' defeat on Monday night to the Renegades, following on from spells of 2-24 and 2-22 in his preceding matches, to jump a massive 17 places into first spot.

The leg-spinner has combined economy with his wicket-taking ability, sharing joint top spot in the wicket-takers list with fellow leggie Adil Rashid, who sits fourth on the list.

Splitting the spinners are Scorchers pace pair Jason Behrendorff (second) and Andrew Tye (third), while another leg-spinner, the Heat's West Indian rep Samuel Badree, rounds out the top five.

Russell's wicket-taking form and big-hitting spectacles with the bat have seen him overhaul injured Sixers captain Moises Henriques (second) in top spot among the allrounders, with Rashid, Ben Cutting and John Hastings also in the top five.
