Queensland Wins Second WNCL Title

Queensland has claimed the 2025-26 Women's National Cricket League title after defeating New South Wales by seven runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method in a rain affected final.

Queensland has claimed the 2025-26 Women's National Cricket League title after defeating New South Wales by seven runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method in a rain‑affected final.

 

After Queensland posted 7-332 in the first innings, New South Wales' chase was interrupted by rain, with a revised target of 220 in 32 overs.

 

The victory secured Queensland's second WNCL title, with their previous final win in 2020-21 when they defeated Victoria for the Ruth Preddey Cup in Melbourne. 

 

Queensland's Grace Harris won the Player of the Final award following an outstanding 111 runs from 94 balls.

Katie Mack (NSW Breakers) was named the 2025-26 WNCL Player of the Year. She finished the regular season with 632 runs at an average of 63.2 from 12 innings. This summer saw Mack play her 100th WNCL game and pass 3500 career runs, moving into seventh-place for all-time runs scored in the league.

 

This was the 30th edition of Women's National Cricket League, which replaced the Australian Women's Cricket Championships in 1996-97 and is contested for the Ruth Preddey Cup.

“Even with rain affecting the second innings, we saw a fantastic contest between the two teams that went right to the wire.

 

“It was a strong finish to a season full of impressive performances from teams and individuals across the board, as the WNCL continues to showcase the best of Australian cricket, including the exciting progress of emerging talent.

 

“I would like to also congratulate Alyssa Healy, who finished her WNCL career with another impressive performance with the bat. She has left an indelible mark on Australian cricket, and we’re grateful for all she has contributed to the game of cricket.”
