Frustrated Warner criticises latest Sunrisers' stumble

David Warner's Sunrisers Hyderabad have failed in a run chase for the third straight time in the Indian Premier League as defending champions Mumbai Indians beat them by 13 runs.

Sunrisers' Australian captain Warner scored a 34-ball 36 and began promisingly with his England opening partner Jonny Bairstow, who smashed a brisk 43 off 22 deliveries as they led the chase of Mumbai's 5-150 on Saturday.

But Bairstow departed hit wicket in the eighth over and Warner was run out in the 12th as Hyderabad collapsed to 137 all out in 19.4 overs, losing their last eight wickets for 47 runs.

"I don't know how to take that," said a disappointed Warner, whose team are bottom of the eight-team competition.

"Two of us got set, my run out, Jonny stepping on his wickets, and false shots in the middle proved that if you don't have two guys at the end, you don't win.

"These scores are very chaseable, it's just poor batting. You just need smart cricket in the middle, we aren't doing that. We've got to learn from the mistakes and right now, it's just the batsmen. 

"We've got to take responsibility. Got to move forward, put some smiles on our faces."

Mumbai's matchwinners with the ball were legspinner Rahul Chahar, who claimed 3-19, and Trent Boult (3-28).

Earlier, Kieron Pollard's unbeaten 35 off 22 had lifted Mumbai's total to 150 as the West Indian power-hitter struck two sixes off the last two deliveries from fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0-45).

Mumbai now have four points from three games after losing their opening game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, but the alarm bells are beginning to ring for Hyderabad.
