Sarfraz, Pakistan fined by the ICC
Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed will part with more than half his match fee from the first Test against England after being penalised for a slow over-rate.
The International Cricket Council announced Monday that Sarfraz has been fined 60 per cent of his match fee for a tardy over-rate in their win at Lord's.
The other 10 Pakistan players who helped complete a surprise nine-wicket victory on Sunday have each lost 30 per cent of their match payments.
Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the punishments after deeming Pakistan to be three overs short of their target, even after time allowances were taken into consideration.
Sarfraz pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the sanction.
The ICC's Code of Conduct states players are fined 10 per cent of their match fee "for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount."
Sarfraz must now tread carefully after his first offence; should a Pakistan side he captains commit another over-rate breach in a Test within the next 12 months, the wicketkeeper could face a suspension.
England have confirmed that they've dropped opener Mark Stoneman at the expense of Keaton Jennings for the second Test at Headingley, which gets underway Friday.
