New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals, maintaining their unbeaten record with a 22-run win over Pakistan. Martin Guptill starred with 80 from 48 balls with the bat, while spinners Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner again led the way with the ball.

Pakistan now must beat Australia on Friday night to have any hope of staying in the tournament, a match captain Shahid Afridi conceded after play was likely to be "the last game of my career".

The veteran is currently on 97 career wickets, three short of becoming the first man in history to register 100 wickets in T20 international cricket.

TWEET OF THE NIGHT

Indian-born Kiwi leg-spinner Ish Sodhi had a night to remember in Mohali.

PIC OF THE NIGHT

AUSTRALIA'S MEN

Tuesday was a travel day for Steve Smith's charges after their win over Bangladesh, but it wasn't without incident.

WATCH: Australia stay alive with tense win

Their flight from Bangalore to Mohali via Delhi was delayed after bomb threats were made against five other flights in India.

The plane carrying the 15-man squad was not one of the five Jet Airways services that received threats, but their aircraft circled for almost half an hour above Chandigarh airport, near Mohali, while another plane on the ground was searched by officials.

Team management and the players were shuffled off to the team hotel shortly after landing, with the majority unaware as to what had unfolded.

AUSTRALIA'S WOMEN

The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars dusted themselves off after their loss to New Zealand on Monday with a training session in Delhi, the venue for their crucial match against Sri Lanka on Thursday.

Coach Matthew Mott says the pressure is well and truly on his batting group as they head into their final two matches against the Sri Lankans and Ireland, which they need to win to be assured of a spot in the semi-finals, adding the team was “hurting” after the loss to NZ.

Quick Single: Mott puts heat on batting group

"It's about our top order in particularly standing up and executing what we've talked about," Mott said.

"So there's a lot of pressure on the top four or five batters now to really lay the foundation to set that 130-plus score that we need.

"There's certainly not a lack of talent there. It's more confidence at the moment and our confidence is down after (the loss).

"We've got to bounce back pretty quickly and come back and play better cricket."

Meanwhile, there's arguably an even bigger contest brewing WITHIN the Southern Stars camp. Watch below.

TONIGHT'S MATCHES (LIVE on Fox Sports 3 from 8.20pm AEDT)

A big double-header looms on Wednesday night as the tournament hopes of both England and India go on the line.

Eoin Morgan's men will be looking to ride the momentum from their thrilling win over South Africa by accounting for Afghanistan, who have proved no easy beats in the tournament so far.

From Delhi to Bangalore, where India will also be chasing their second win of the tournament against winless Bangladesh.

It's a huge game for the hosts, as victory there will put them in a strong position to join New Zealand in the semi-finals, while a loss could well end India's campaign.
