Player Story
Campbell Thompson is a left-arm fast bowler from East Torrens District Cricket Club.
He came through South Australia's pathway academy, performing strongly at the U17 and U19 championships and in Premier Cricket, with a breakout 2023-24 season where he took 29 wickets to earn selection in the state's Premier Cricket men's team of the year. All of which saw him earn his first professional contract on SA's rookie list for the 2024-25 season.
His Sheffield Shield debut came after spearhead Brendan Doggett was ruled out for the season with a significant hamstring injury, injected into the side to face Queensland at the Gabba in round eight of the 2025-26 season. He was given the new ball and started his first-class career with four successive maidens bowling at recently retired Test batter Usman Khawaja, and later claimed his first two career wickets in the space of three balls.
