Ellie Johnston was raised on a dairy farm in the rural town of Kaimkillenbun, approximately 4.5 hours from Dalby.
Her favourite primary school teacher loved cricket and thought Ellie’s natural sporting prowess would make her a talented cricketer.
She got her break with Queensland in the WNCL and Brisbane Heat in the WBBL, before being lured south to sign with South Australian and Adelaide Strikers.
Johnston loves getting outdoors and camping with her cousin Ruth Johnston, who plays for Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes.
If Ellie wasn’t a cricketer, she’d love to work as a mechanic, but for now, she’s busy smacking sixes.
