Player Story
An opening batter from the outer suburbs of Sydney, Tim Ward had to relocate to Tasmania to earn a crack at first-class cricket, which finally came for him at the end of the 2020-21 summer.
In just his second Sheffield Shield match, Ward hit 144 against Queensland to confirm the mature-aged rookie as a player to watch.
Ward earned a call-up to the Australia A side that faced New Zealand A in 2023, but a wretched run in early 2024 (which included three ducks in a row) saw him dropped from the Tigers' Shield XI.
The gritty left-hander returned to Tassie's team in the summer of 2024-25, registering the second ton of his career with 142 against South Australia and earning another Australia A berth against England Lions that same season.
