A very fast bowler from Brisbane, Tom Whitney made an impact at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies, taking seven wickets in five matches.
It would take Whitney some time to make his mark with state side Queensland however, but his Sheffield Shield debut was one to remember. As a 21-year-old in the early stages of the 2024-25 season, Whitney became the 12th Queenslander to take a five-wicket haul on debut and first since 1986-87 as he took 5-57 against South Australia.
His Big Bash debut followed that summer, featuring twice for the Brisbane Heat.
