Named player of the tournament at the 2024 Under-19 World Cup despite being only 17 years old, Kwena Maphaka's rapid rise had begun.
The left-arm quick from Johannesburg earned an IPL contract with Mumbai Indians off the back of it and debuted in the world's richest league days before his 18th birthday.
In January 2025, he began South Africa's youngest Test debutant at 18 years and 270 days, two weeks after bowling a 151kph delivery on ODI debut against Pakistan.
