Bio

The talented Sri Lanka allrounder has achieved plenty in his internation career. He has captained the Sri Lanka Test, one-day international and T20 teams.

Mathews rose to the top of the ICC ODI allrounder rankings in November 2014 after a solid ODI series against India, which included an unbeaten 139.

He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in November 2008 and was quick to impress with his solid batting, consistent bowling and athleticism in the field.

Mathews’ excellent performances at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 helped Sri Lanka reach the final of the tournament, but he missed the final due to a quad injury.

He became Sri Lanka’s youngest-ever Test captain when he was 25-years-old, having been earmarked for the role after leading Sri Lanka’s Under-19 team.
