150th Test

  • The MCG. Where cricket history began.

There’s no ground in the world quite like the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

It was here, in March 1877, that Australia and England faced off in the very first Test Match – the moment that gave birth to Test cricket as we know it.

Australia won by 45 runs, and 100 years later, history repeated itself at the Centenary Test, with another Australian victory by exactly the same margin.

  • A modern classic in the making

This Test will be the first men’s Day-Night Test ever played at the MCG –  a fitting tribute to how the game continues to evolve.

Under the glow of lights, a new generation of fans will experience the magic of Test cricket in a whole new way. With play scheduled into the evening, families and fans will have the chance to be part of the crowd after work or school.

  • The home of legends

From the Boxing Day Test to unforgettable World Cup finals, the MCG has hosted the greatest moments in cricket history. Its roar, its scale and its sense of occasion are unmatched.

As the sun sets and the lights take hold, past greats, rising stars and passionate fans will unite once again to celebrate the game. With legendary entertainment also lighting up the twilight, the 150th Anniversary Test promises to be an unforgettable celebration of the sport we love.
