The first allocation of tickets for Sunday's Final were exhausted within 34 minutes of going on public sale
BBL|15 Final set for sell-out as Scorchers fans snap up tickets
Perth Scorchers will play before a packed house in the KFC BBL|15 Final with the first allocation of tickets for Sunday's decider exhausted within 34 minutes of going on sale to the public.
All remaining tickets will go on sale at 10am AWST on Saturday after their opponent is decided, with the Scorchers looking to eclipse their record home crowd of 53,886 that attended the thrilling BBL|12 decider.
The Optus Stadium finale is expected to be a sell-out and follows a trend of huge attendances across the season.
BBL|15 will welcome its one millionth fan through the gates tonight in Hobart, with overall season attendance is currently sitting at 995,339.
The Scorchers drew their home-and-away record crowd of 48,608 against Melbourne Stars last Saturday as the secured top spot with a six-wicket victory, while the Melbourne derby at the MCG earlier in the season saw a turnout of 68,124 – the third biggest crowd in Big Bash history.
That also led to the competition recording its highest ever attendance for a single day as a total of 105,767 fans attended the two BBL|15 matches played on January 4, the first between the Stars and Renegades, and later between Perth Scorchers and the Adelaide Strikers, which drew 37,643 fans to Optus Stadium.
Not since BBL|12 has the men's Big Bash competition seen more than a million fans through the gates in a season. However, the average attendance in BBL|15 is around 8,000 higher given that BBL|12 was a longer season with 14 home-and-away rounds.
Tickets are still available for the Challenger, with Sydney Sixers set to host the winner of the Hobart Hurricanes-Melbourne Stars Knockout final at the SCG on Friday night.
The Scorchers earned hosting rights for the season finale by toppling the Sixers by 48 runs in last night's Qualifier in Perth.
Adding to the Final, Aussie indie rockers The Jungle Giants will headline the entertainment with two sets – one pre-game and another during the innings break.
"The fact all available tickets for the final were sold within 34 minutes of going on sale is yet another indication of the enormous interest in the BBL this season," said league boss Alistair Dobson.
"With three massive finals ahead of us, the stage is set for an historic finish to the BBL|15 season.
"The occasion will be a fitting end to a memorable summer of Big Bash action, which has seen record audiences and attendances witness a remarkable season of world-class cricket, close contests and memorable moments."
