While his career has never reached the heights of his famous brother Michael, David Hussey has been a solid performer for Australia in limited overs cricket and Victoria in all three forms of the game.

Like his brother, Hussey was forced to pile on the runs in state and county cricket for years before he was finally handed his international debut, a T20 against India in 2008.

His first taste of international cricket came five years after his debut with Victoria, despite regularly averaging over 50 for the Bushrangers and county side Nottinghamshire.

It wasn’t until he passed the 1000-run mark in the 2007-08 season that Hussey earned his first Cricket Australia contract and became a semi-regular feature in Australia’s ODI and T20 sides.

He scored his maiden ODI century against Scotland in 2009, which came hot on the heels of by a brutal 88 from 44 balls in a Twenty20 against South Africa. Despite topping the Sheffield Shield run tally with 970 at 57.05 in 2009-10, including a century in the final, Hussey lost his national contract soon afterwards and has only played sporadically for his country since.
