Born in Bridgetown, Barbados, Jofra Archer is a fast bowler capable of reaching eye-watering speeds and on his day among the best in the world. 

He represented West Indies Under-19s in 2013 but thanks to his British passport due to his English father, Archer soon made it clear he wanted to represent England, not West Indies. 

Before his international breakthrough, Archer had two highly successful years with Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL, where he instantly became a fan favourite and a match-winner. 

After some controversy surrounding his qualification for England's national side, Archer was rushed into the World Cup squad in 2019 where he became an integral member of the XI, culminating in bowling the Super Over in the tied final against New Zealand. 

His introduction to the Test arena was equally thrilling, concussing Australia's Steve Smith with a short ball during the 2019 Lord's Test before going on to take 22 wickets in the pulsating drawn Ashes series. 

Injuries saw Archer miss two years of international cricket between 2021 and 2023 before he was eased back into the national white-ball sides. In July 2025, Archer ended a four-year spell in the Test wilderness when he returned for the Lord's Test against India.
