Ben Stokes' place in cricket folklore is secure due to his heroics at Headingley in 2019, but he's more than a one-hit wonder. 

Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, he was part of the England Under-19 squad for the 2009 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup and made his debut for Durham the same year.

He was chosen for the England Lions and played against Sri Lanka in 2011, then debuted for England against Ireland later that year.

His next opportunity for England came in 2013, when he was named in the one-day international squad for a series against Ireland and Australia, before being included in the squad for the 2013-14 Ashes tour where he impressed with a century and a five-wicket haul in his first Test series. 

Stokes' Test best was a whirlwind 258 against South Africa in 2016 which was the second-fastest Test double ton in history.  

The allrounder was elevated to England Test captain at the same time Kiwi legend Brendon McCullum was installed as coach at a low ebb for English cricket. 

He was a strong record against Australia but it will be tough to top his 135no in the Leeds Ashes Test in 2019 that saw him spearhead a remarkable comeback by chasing 359 on the final day with one wicket to spare.
