Player Story
A highly-talented allrounder, Matt Short played for Australia in the 2014 Under-19 World Cup where he impressed with 237 runs.
The off-spinner from Northcote made his debut for Victoria at the start of the 2014-15 summer, but he would briefly trade his allegiance in the competition to the Cricket Australia XI, where he was vice-captain in the 2016 One-Day Cup.
Beginning his Big Bash career at the Melbourne Renegades, it took a move to the Adelaide Strikers to find his feet in the competition, named player of the tournament in consecutive seasons in KFC BBL|12 and BBL|13.
It was around this time he was also hitting top form in the Sheffield Shield for Victoria, blasting a career-best 623 runs in the 2022-23 season to go with 10 wickets at 21.50.
In 2023 Short made his international debut in both ODIs and T20s after touring with the side in South Africa and India.
