CA Board

The ten-person Cricket Australia (CA) Board consists of four independent Directors and one Director each appointed by Cricket New South Wales, Queensland Cricket, South Australian Cricket Association, Cricket Tasmania, Cricket Victoria and Western Australian Cricket Association

  • Mike Baird AO

    Chair

    Mike is the CEO of HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing health, palliative care, dementia and aged care services. Prior to commencing at HammondCare, Mike was a member of the National Australia Bank executive leadership team from 2017 to 2020. Former Premier of New South Wales, Mike describes himself as a complete cricket tragic and is currently a proud patron of Manly Cricket Club #bleedblue !

  • Dr Vanessa Guthrie AO

    Director

    Vanessa is an experienced Non-Executive Director with a career spanning thirty years in the resources sector. Currently Director of Santos Ltd, North American Construction Group Ltd, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd and Orica; she is the Chancellor of Curtin University. Vanessa’s long-standing love of Australian cricket drives her desire to give back to the game. She was a Director of the WACA from 2016 – 2020 and Deputy Chair from 2018 – 2020.

  • Paul Green

    Director

    Paul has a long association with cricket, having been a Director and Deputy Chairman with the Tasmanian Cricket Association from 2004 to 2018. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Enterprise Division at KPMG Australia, and the Tasmanian Chairman of Partners.

  • Clea SMith

    Director

    Clea has 20 years’ experience working at the intersection of sport and health. She is currently CEO of The Mind Room and spent 8 years in various GM roles at the Australian Cricketers' Association. Clea's playing days included two successful World Cups with Australia, 20 years of state cricket including vice captaincy and 5 national championship winning teams and is life member of her local club side Essendon Maribyrnong Park.

  • Dr Lachlan Henderson

    Director

    Currently Group Chief Executive Epworth Healthcare (appointed January 2017). A former WA First Grade cricketer for University, Dr Henderson was WACA Chairman from 2015 to 2017 and was pivotal in the Association's discussions and planning in a significant period of change and growth for WA cricket. He was appointed to the CA Board in September 2018.

  • John Harnden AO

    Director

    John is the Chief Executive Officer of the Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust. He has an extensive background in sports, tourism and major events, including with the South Australian Cricket Association and the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup as well as currently chairing the Local Organising Committee for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup. Awarded the Order of Australia in 2007 for services to sport.

  • Richard Freudenstein

    Director

    Richard is currently a Non-executive director and Chairman of Appen Limited as well as a Non-executive director of REA Group Limited and Coles Group Limited. In addition, Richard is the Deputy Chancellor of The University of Sydney and was previously a Non-executive director of Foxtel and ESPN Star Sports. Richard has been a life-long passionate supporter of Australian Cricket.

  • Sarah Adam-Gedge

    Director

    A chartered accountant, Sarah has held numerous senior leadership positions in Australia and globally in the digital transformation and technology industry, and has extensive board room experience including as Deputy Chair of ship building company Austal Ltd and Director for Ovarian Cancer Australia. In addition, she has recently joined the boards of Codan Ltd and Kinetic IT Pty Ltd.

  • Greg Rowell

    Director

    Greg’s cricket journey over thirty odd seasons as player has taken him from the lower grades of regional club cricket through four Premier Cricket competitions, First-class cricket for three States and the iconic World Series Cricket finals in the nineties. At the end of his ten-year First-class career Greg delved back into to Premier Cricket while he developed his legal practice.In the shadows of this playing journey, Greg involved himself in the fundamentals of Premier Cricket.

  • Dr David Maddocks

    Director

    David is a lawyer and neuropsychologist. He is the co-Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Sports Law Committee and a Member of the AFL Grievance Tribunal. Chair of Cricket Vic (2020-2022) and President of Premier Cricket Club, North Melbourne (2008-2013), David has a Ph.D. on the neuropsychological recovery from concussion in sport and was a member of the AFL Concussion Working Group.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cricket Advisory Committee

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cricket Advisory Committee is an officially sanctioned sub-committee of the Cricket Australia Board.  This sub-committee has the responsibility and scope to provide guidance to Cricket Australia management and the Cricket Australia Board on issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and provide strategic advice on Cricket Australia’s RAP.
